Volunteer of the Year! Since completing basic civil mediator training, just a couple years ago, rarely a month goes by that Laurie Mayer is not volunteering her valuable time and talent with our program.  Her experience as a veteran and civil service employee has imparted her a knack for mediating even the toughest of cases.
When asked why she volunteers Laurie stated, “I volunteer for a few reasons; the desire to make a positive impact, to help others, to gain new experiences, or to further develop my own skills. Being a volunteer mediator allows me the opportunity to connect with others who I may otherwise never have a chance to meet, to build relationships with like-minded people and to experience fulfillment in supporting a larger purpose.  My ability to volunteer as a mediator for the SW region though is in large part due to the amazing support and grace I have received from Regional Director, Sarah Head, who is an exceptional role model.
Laurie is an avid traveler, outdoors woman, and always up for a new challenge.  She has mediated 22 cases and has volunteered over 56 hours for the Early Settlement – Southwest program.
